The Surge

 


The Surge is an action role-playing game developed by Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive. The game takes place in a dystopian future where technology has advanced to the point where humans can augment their bodies with mechanical parts.

 

Story:

The story follows the player character, Warren, as he tries to uncover the truth behind a mysterious organization known as CREO. As Warren delves deeper into the mysteries of CREO, he discovers that the organization is not as benevolent as it seems and that the augmentations being performed on its employees are having dangerous and unintended consequences.


Gameplay:

Gameplay in The Surge consists of hack and slash combat, with a focus on strategic dismemberment of enemy limbs in order to loot their gear. The game also features a robust character progression system, allowing players to upgrade their equipment and abilities as they progress through the game.

 

Graphics:

The graphics in The Surge are highly detailed and well-realized, with a strong emphasis on the game's dystopian setting. The character models are especially well-done, with a wide variety of mechanical augmentations available for the player to equip. The game's environments are also well-designed, with a strong attention to detail and a sense of decay and desolation that helps to sell the game's bleak setting.

 

Overall, The Surge is a solid action RPG that offers a unique take on the hack and slash genre. While it may not necessarily revolutionize the genre, it certainly holds its own with strong gameplay, a compelling story, and top-notch graphics. I would give the game an 8/10.
